The myth, as it's usually told

Hephaestus

Hephaestus, god of the forge, was born lame and thrown from Olympus as an infant. He became the gods' smith, making Zeus's thunderbolts, Achilles' armor and the throne that trapped his own mother, Hera. Married to Aphrodite, who betrayed him with Ares, he caught the lovers in an unbreakable golden net and showed them to the other gods.

What the song hears

The reframe

The only god who works for a living. A craftsman's pride, not a plea for forgiveness.
