The myth behind this song

What if the standing stones of Stonehenge could remember the mountain they were torn from?

"The Stones of Preseli" tells the story of Stonehenge's bluestones in their own voice: their birth in a Welsh mountain, the long journey across the land, and the centuries of silent watching that followed.

What to expect: An atmospheric, intimate opening that builds slowly Soaring female vocals rising from hushed whisper to full cinematic power Sweeping orchestral strings and driving percussion through the choruses A dynamic, deeply emotional sound carrying the memory of the stones

The History: The bluestones at the heart of Stonehenge did not come from Salisbury Plain. They were quarried in the Preseli Hills of west Wales and carried roughly 150 miles to the site we now call Stonehenge, around five thousand years ago. How and why Neolithic people moved stones weighing tons across such a distance is still one of archaeology's great unsolved questions. This song imagines the stones remembering all of it: the mountain, the journey, and the long ages standing alone on the hill.

What do you think really brought the bluestones to Stonehenge?
