The story behind this song
You Will Not Be Returning is a stark coldwave anthem that rejects spiritual striving and cuts through illusion with brutal clarity. With pulsing synths, minimalist guitars, and an emotionally detached vocal delivery, this track exposes the quiet machinery behind awakening — and the truth that some are never meant to arrive.
From the concept album The Shape You Abandoned, this isn’t the moment of revelation. It’s the slow, precise turning away from every illusion of reward.
“It never promised revelation To every soul who takes a breath.”
