The story behind this song
You Were Given Gods So You’d Never Look Past Them is a powerful gothic metal anthem that dismantles false faith and inherited fear. With thunderous guitars, symphonic layers, and operatic intensity, this song calls out the chains built in the name of worship — and the silence that still waits behind them.
From the concept album The Shape You Abandoned, this track is a mythic confrontation with spiritual distortion and the echoes of forgotten truth.
“You weren’t speaking to the void. Only the shape you abandoned Remained to hear your fading prayers.”
