The myth behind this song
The Phantom Queen Claims What Was Never Given.
"Sovereign" is the second Neural Grooves mashup — combining "The Morrígan's Call (Extended Edition)" and "A Throne of Iron and Bone" from The Cycle of Crows into a single cinematic Celtic symphonic metal epic.
Where "Three Faces of War" combined The Morrígan's Call with The Field of Swords and delivered pure battle fury, "Sovereign" takes a colder, more absolute direction. This is The Morrígan not as the crow on the battlefield, but as the eternal force that decides who rules and who falls. The crown was never given. The throne was forged in strife. And the kingdom they neglected will remember her now.
Two songs. One goddess. Zero compromise.
⬛ The Three Faces:
BADB — THE BATTLE CROW The carrion crow who feasts upon the fallen. She drinks from the crimson water that flows from every grave.
MACHA — THE SOVEREIGN The throne of power. No king rules without her blessing. She crowns them in their final hour, when death becomes their resting.
Musical Journey: A solo cello opens alone — mournful, ancient, and utterly commanding. From that single voice the track builds into a wall-of-sound Celtic symphonic epic — thundering drums, sweeping orchestral strings, soaring brass, and a theatrical female lead rising to operatic heights over a massive choir. The cello never disappears — it drives the entire track from first note to the final chant of "Sovereign... Sovereign... Sovereign..."
If "Three Faces of War" showed you The Morrígan at war, "Sovereign" shows you The Morrígan on her throne.
The Mythology: The Morrígan's sovereignty aspect, embodied by Macha, is perhaps her most misunderstood face. She is not merely a goddess of war. She is the land itself. No king rules Ireland without her blessing, and those who ignore her claim pay the ultimate price. "The kingdom they neglected will remember me now" is not a threat. It is a law older than memory.
