The story behind this song

The Yoruba people of West Africa honour a family of divine spirits called the Orisha. Above them all is Olodumare — the supreme creator, the source from which every Orisha and every living thing flows.

This is the album's climax, and it is built differently on purpose. It opens with a single unaccompanied voice. Then a drum joins. Then a choir answers. Then everything — creation happening in the arrangement itself, one breath becoming all of it. And at the very end, it returns to the lone voice it began with.

What to Expect. An a cappella opening that builds layer by layer into a full gospel peak Call and response between a leader and a large mixed choir Every song on the album answered back in one movement The biggest communal moment on the record

About Olodumare. In Yoruba tradition, Olodumare is the supreme being — the owner of the heavens, the source of all existence, from whom the Orisha themselves flow. Olodumare is remote and vast, rarely approached directly, which is why the Orisha carry the traffic between heaven and humanity.

At the heart of this song is one of the most beautiful ideas in the tradition: àṣẹ (ah-sheh) — the divine life-force, the power to make things happen, the "let it be so." Olodumare breathed àṣẹ into everything that lives. The power that made the rivers and the thunder is, in some measure, already in you.

The lesson of the climax: whatever you were dreaming, you were given what it takes.

This Song Is For You If You've Ever. - Felt too small to matter in something so large - Needed reminding that you carry the same spark as everything alive - Wanted one song that gathers a whole journey into one voice

One breath became the world. And here we are.
