Dark Gospel Blues Rock In progress
The Sacred Fire
One tent, one night, and a travelling revival preacher who genuinely believes every word he says.
The story behind this album
One tent. One night. One man who believes every word he says.
The Sacred Fire is a 12-track dark gospel blues rock concept album following a travelling revival preacher through his final meeting. He isn't a con man. He isn't cynical. He genuinely believes the fire moves through him, that the healings are real, that the money is holy exchange. He has believed it for thirty years.
The album opens from the pews, with one witness who sees the whole operation for what it is. Then that voice disappears, and you spend eleven tracks inside the preacher's head, hearing him describe a night you'll have to reconstruct from the gaps in what he tells you.
The Story
A man drives stakes into a hard field at four in the afternoon. He raises the tent alone. He sets seven rows of twelve chairs. He prays for the thing to work tonight the way it worked before. Then people come up the hill carrying what they've carried too long, and he offers to hold it for them.
Somewhere in the middle of the night, he asks God a question and nothing answers. He does not conclude he's wrong. He preaches louder.
What to Expect. Frenzied slide guitar, Hammond organ, and revival hand claps A gravelly lead that moves from conspiratorial to ecstatic to unhinged A full gospel congregation on the album's altar call Twelve tracks with twelve distinct structures: no two songs built the same way

He's got honey on his tongue and fire in his eyes, and he's selling sweet salvation underneath these humid skies.
