Kronos was the youngest Titan and the king of the first age of the gods. Warned that one of his own children would overthrow him, he swallowed each of them at birth. His wife Rhea hid the last, Zeus, and fed Kronos a stone in his place. Zeus grew up, freed his siblings and won the war that ended the Titans' rule. Kronos is the god of that fear: the father who cannot let the future be born.
